  • Full – 75 cents
  • Youth (K-12) – 50 cents
  • Senior (60+ years) – 35 cents
  • Disabled – 35 cents

Up to two children five years and younger will be able to ride for free with a fare paying adult.

Requires Identification

  • Youths in Grades 8-12 must present Student ID
  • Seniors must provide proof of age
  • Disabled must show ID (e.g., Medicare or Metro ID)

Transit Tickets may be used as fare media to board any Pasadena Transit bus and for purchasing Inter-Agency transfers on Pasadena Transit buses.

TAP

Pasadena ARTS & Pasadena Dial-A-Ride are now on TAP!

What is TAP?
TAP (Transit Access Pass) is a durable, plastic card that can be used again and again. Load your EZ transit pass or Stored Value for seamless travel throughout Los Angeles County. Stored Value is money stored on your card that can be deducted each time you board the bus. It eliminates the hassle of coins and ticket books.

If you load an EZ transit pass or Stored Value on your TAP card, you can easily move among all TAP-enabled transit agencies with just your TAP card. No need to buy multiple passes from multiple agencies.

EZ Transit Pass holders and Access members
You are now able to use your TAP card to board the ARTS bus. All ARTS buses will continue to have fare boxes, so you can still use change or your ticket book to board the bus. Access cards and EZ Passes are already TAP-enabled, so you can now simply tap your card on the TAP validator as you board.

Where can I buy TAP and add funds?

TAP cards can be purchased:

  • Online at taptogo.net
  • By phone at 866.TAPTOGO (866.827.8646)
  • At one of nearly 400 TAP sales outlets (for locations, check taptogo.net)
  • At Metro Rail station TAP Vending Machines. Here, your TAP card is $1 plus fare. There are six Metro Gold Line stations in Pasadena where TAP cards can be purchased. For locations visit metro.net
  • If you qualify as a Senior, Disabled, Medicare, College/Vocational, or K-12 Student rider, you can purchase passes on TAP at a reduced rate, but you will need a special TAP card. For details and applications visit taptogo.net.

Where is TAP accepted?
Once loaded with fare, TAP cards can be used to board buses and trains throughout LA County. Transit agencies that currently accept TAP include:

Protect your TAP

You can sign up for free Balance Protection for your TAP card. If your card is lost or stolen, you can report it to receive the unused balance on a new card for a $5 service charge. To sign up, visit taptogo.net or call 866.TAPTOGO. Seniors, people with disabilities and students are automatically signed up with the purchase of the Reduced Fare TAP card.

Interagency transfers
For now, to get an interagency transfer on Pasadena ARTS bus, you still need to purchase a paper transfer with cash. When boarding the bus, let your driver know you need an interagency transfer, then use your TAP card to validate your first trip. Put your transfer fare into the farebox and a paper transfer will be issued. If you’re transferring to a gated Metro Rail Station in Pasadena, you’ll need a special TAP card transfer issued by the bus driver. Let the driver know you are transferring to one of these stations before you pay the transfer fare. It’s good for one entry through Metro Rail turnstiles. Local transfers between ARTS bus routes will also still require a paper transfer.
