NORTH HILL AVENUE

North Hill Avenue Complete Street Project: Hill Avenue & Topeka Street, Hill Avenue & Elizabeth Street, and Hill Avenue between Topeka Street & Villa Street

North Hill Avenue is a minor arterial located in the north east part of the City of Pasadena. The speed limit of North Hill Avenue is 35 mph from Villa St to Washington Blvd and 30 mph from Washington Blvd to the north city limit. The ADT is approximately 16,800 south of Washington Blvd and 9,000 north of Washington Blvd. The purpose of the North Hill Avenue Complete Streets Project is to lower vehicular speeds, improve safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

CORDOVA STREET

Cordova Complete Street Project between Arroyo Parkway Road and Hill Street

The proposed project — from Arroyo Parkway to Hill Street – will convert the vehicular-oriented street to a complete street by removing two vehicular traffic lanes to accommodate for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The proposed street configuration will consist of pedestrian curb extensions to shorten crossing times at all intersections, bike lanes in both directions, a painted median, and one lane of traffic in each direction.

Funding – Metro Call for Projects- Expected to execute a MOU with Metro by June 2015

LINDA VISTA AREA

Linda Vista Complete Street Project on Lida Street from Knollwood Drive to Lancashire Place

This project provides for the narrowing of the roadway width of Lida Street to slow vehicles while retaining existing bike lanes. Lida Street is a minor arterial with a speed limit of 25 mph. Lida St. between Knollwood Dr. and Lancashire PI. was selected to be a part of the pilot project for the City’s new Complete Streets Program.

SAN RAFAEL AREA

The Complete Streets process began in October 2013 by sending out a questionnaire/survey to obtain information from residents on their traffic related concerns. A working group was formed of San Rafael area residents and a kick-off meeting was held in November 2013 to discuss the Complete Streets Program and the results of the initial survey.

A follow-up meeting was help in February 2014 to update the working group on the status of the program and what traffic related issue had been addressed. Also during that meeting the working group was informed that a consultant was to be hired to address traffic calming alternatives for Avenue 64.

In September 2014 the consultant presented the alternatives to the working group for their comments. In November 2014 the working group will decide on a preferred alternative to present to the entire Avenue 64 community.

Project Schedule:

  • October 2013 – Mailed out 924 Surveys to City of Pasadena residents.
  • November 2013 – Kickoff meeting for San Rafael Complete Streets Working Group.
  • January 2014 – Conducted Traffic Counts, warrant studies, speed hump studies.
  • February 2014 – 2nd meeting with working group.
  • April 2014 – 3rd meeting with working group.
  • September 2014 – 4th meeting with working group.
  • November 2014- Future scheduled meeting with working group.

STATE ROUTE 710 STUDY

In June 2010, Metro in coordination with Caltrans authorized moving forward with the environmental review phase and broadening the search for multimodal solutions for the SR-710 study area. LEARN MORE.

GOLD LINE FOOTHILL EXTENSION

The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority (Construction Authority) is an independent transportation planning, design and construction agency created in 1998 by the California State Legislature, SB 1847 . The agency was created to immediately resume design, contracting and construction of the Los Angeles to Pasadena Metro Gold Line (formerly the Pasadena Blue Line) which had been suspended by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) earlier that same year.

REGIONAL CONNECTOR TRANSIT CORRIDOR

The Regional Connector will connect the Metro Gold Line, Blue Line and Expo Line enabling passengers to travel from Montclair to Long Beach and from East Los Angeles to Santa Monica as a “one seat ride”.
