Homicide Suspect Identified and Arrested

PASADENA, CA –At about 8:58 p.m., Monday August 7, 2017, Pasadena Police detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a Pasadena man earlier in that day in the 1000 block of East Maple Street.

Police identified the suspect as Deleon Jackson, 22-year-old male of Pasadena. He is currently being held on $3 million bail by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

On Monday, August 7, 2017, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Pasadena Police responded to the 1000 block of East Maple Street after receiving several 9-1-1 calls from citizens who reporting hearing a gunshot and seeing a male lying in the street bleeding.  Officers arrived on scene and located the male adult victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.  Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in grave condition.  The victim later succumbed to his injury at the hospital.

The victim was identified as Eric Lamar Holloway, 27, of Pasadena.

During the next 17 hours, Pasadena Detectives conducted a non-stop, exhaustive investigation in dogged pursuit of the identity and arrest of homicide suspect Jackson.

The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on August 10, 2017.  Prosecutors have formally charged Jackson on one count of murder in the second degree.

The investigation revealed both victim and suspect were acquaintances in good standing with one another. The motive remains undetermined and still under investigation.
