PASADENA, Calif.—The public is invited to attend the initial kick-off meeting of the Civic Center Task Force beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the City Hall Basement Training Room, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room #S018.
Information about the Task Force is at www.cityofpasadena.net/planning/civic-center-task-force. Future meeting agendas and other information will be posted on this webpage when available. Additional public meetings will be held during the following six months after the initial meeting. The dates and times of future meetings are expected to be determined by the Task Force at its Oct. 26 meeting.
The Civic Center Task Force was established by the City Council on July 17, 2017 to provide recommendations to the City Council regarding:
- New construction or development and/or land-use standards of the YWCA and YMCA blocks that are consistent with the existing Central District Specific Plan;
- Possible recommendations for the public rights-of-way within Centennial Plaza, Holly Street and Garfield Avenue; and
- Potential landscape/hardscape improvements for the Civic Center area.
The Task Force’s recommendations will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration. Following any City Council action, the City may issue a new Request for Proposals for development projects that would rehabilitate and reuse the YWCA building, as well as any other supporting new construction consistent with the City Council’s direction.
Task Force members are: Andrea Rawlings and Vince Farhat, Mayor appointees; and Council appointees Raphael Henderson, District 1; Chris Peck, District 2; Joel Bryant, District 3; Lambert M. Giessinger, District 4; Cecilia Estolano, District 5; Wendy Cobleigh, District 6; and Gail Price, District 7. Other Task Force members include Gary Floyd, Historic Preservation Commission; Stephanie DeWolfe, Planning Commission; Blair Miller, Transportation Advisory Commission; Alan Loomis, Design Commission; Claire Bogaard, Pasadena Heritage; and John Byram, Downtown Pasadena Neighborhood Association.
